have had a few bad experiences with this surgery but this mornings appointment takes the biscuit.
I am due to receive a B12 injection which are time conscious. i arrive at 8.10 as thats what my appointment card says and when i check in i see my appointment was changed to 8.30 without letting me know by letter or phone call.
i then wait for my 8.30 appointment with no fuss. its 8.55 before someone lets me know that the nurse is not coming in as she is ill. Meaning i have to book my appointment for the next available slot for 11am the next day which is not ok with my work so i need to take annual leave to have an injection which is essential.
i feel this is totally unfair and when they realised the nurse wasnt in by 8.30 which is her first appointment they should have called her to find out where she is or had she alreeady called in sick and do they have bad communication which meant that the patient waiting wasnt made aware?
I'm sorry but your online prescription ordering is a mess and has been for several years. I have had to register three times in four years and nearly two weeks ago I ordered a repeat prescription and received an email confirmation. After two trips to the chemist, I finally had to ring and was told "it didn't work". Excuse me, a prescription someone needed didn't get done because "it didn't work"? I was told I would have to come in and order it, flatly refused and after a long wait was told it had been put through "this time". I must respectfully suggest you get an IT consultant in to sort this out and / or train some people.
Many thanks.
Fortunately I do not have to use the GP surgery much apart from requesting repeat prescriptions. Unfortunately on the occasions that I do go in there I have found that the reception staff are unwelcoming and often do not seem to acknowledge that you are there, this morning being a perfect case in point.
After ringing the surgery for 45 mins three mornings running, I eventually managed to get through. I asked for a Dr's appointment urgently for that day and was told to attend later that morning. I saw who I presumed to be a lady Dr who after a brief and somewhat unsatisfactory discussion asked me to see her again two days later. The evening before my second appointment the lady rung and introduced herself as a nurse practitioner, who had spoken to a Dr about me and instructed me as to what they had decided as a treatment plan. I feel like a child who two adults have discussed. I have no objection to being seen by a nurse practitioner but feel if one asks for a Dr's appointment that is what you should get or at least have it made very clear that you are NOT seeing a Dr.
My mother who is in her mid-seventies is due to have open heart surgery in three days time and needs to inject medication given to her by the hospital in preparation for the operation. She called Heathcote (she is a registered patient) to ask if someone could help administer for her as she can't deal with needles (neither can I). Regrettably the surgery has refused to help her. Very disappointing.
Perhaps we expect too much as the Dr's are typically charming when we do get to see them but this was essential treatment so I really don't know.
